About Mobility India Foundation

Mobility India Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit organization registered under the Societies & Firms Registration U.P. Government in 1995-96, dedicated to promoting sports among persons with disabilities at state, national, and international levels. The foundation focuses on empowering individuals with disabilities through sports, healthcare, and inclusive community programs.

"Participation in sports leads to the all-round development of children (both boys and girls) suffering from Cerebral Palsy. Through sports, their bodies become stronger, and their muscular flexibility and balance improve. Mentally, these children gain confidence, learn to focus, and experience reduced stress. From a social perspective, sports provide them with opportunities to work as a team, make friends, and connect with society."

To create a conducive and barrier-free environment, providing opportunities and a platform for people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to showcase their sporting abilities. We encourage them to participate in adaptive sports that help improve their physical, mental, psychological, social, and economic wellbeing.

To promote sports and welfare programs for persons with disabilities at the state, regional, national, and international levels. To empower persons with disabilities through sports, job-oriented initiatives, and comprehensive rehabilitation, helping them overcome both physical and social challenges.

Founder: Dr. A.W. Siddiqui

Empowering the Lives of Persons with Disabilities:

Dr. A.W. Siddiqui is a visionary in the fields of empowerment for persons with disabilities, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation. Based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Siddiqui's expertise and philanthropic spirit have made him a beacon of hope for persons with disabilities across India.

Introduction: Dr. A.W. Siddiqui is a visionary in the fields of empowerment for persons with disabilities, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation. We are highlighting the significant aspects of the extraordinary contributions made by Dr. Siddiqui—an inspirational figure in the realms of Physiotherapy, Acupuncture, Occupational Therapy, and Rehabilitation.

The Inception of Wheelchair Sports: In the 1990s (specifically starting in 1994), Dr. Siddiqui initiated wheelchair sports programs that provided a new direction to the lives of individuals with paraplegia. Under his guidance, an 8-member paraplegic team was formed, which participated in wheelchair races and track-and-field events organized by the Handicapped Welfare Federation in New Delhi in 1996.

Educational Qualifications: Dr. A.W. Siddiqui holds a Master's degree in Physiotherapy from the prestigious Integral Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (IIMSR), Integral University, Lucknow, and a Diploma in Acupuncture from the Academy of Acupuncture and Rehabilitation. He earned a certification in Classification for Cerebral Palsy Sports. He also served as a Classifier in the National CP Football Tournament and the CP National Swimming Competition organized by the Cerebral Palsy Sports Federation of India (CPSFI).

Professional Experience: He served as the Assistant Director in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. He is widely recognized for his innovations in Rehabilitation Science and his unwavering commitment to empowering persons with disabilities.

Future Plans: Reflecting his deep compassion, he plans to establish an Old Age Home for the poor and homeless.

Awards and Recognition: Dr. Siddiqui has received numerous awards for his contributions to the welfare of persons with disabilities:

2008: Awarded a Certificate of Honor as a "Distinguished Individual" (Vyakti Vishesh) by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh.
2016: Honored by Lokmat Media.
2016: Conferred with the Guru Gobind Singh Award by the Disability Welfare Organization of Bihar State.

Counseling & Sports Talent Hunt Program

M.I.F. is jointly conducting counseling sessions for children affected by Cerebral Palsy in the presence of their parents. This program is being highly appreciated by the public, given the children's interests and sporting talent. Consequently, since July 15, 2024, like-minded associations, NGOs, and institutions such as Spark India, Chetna Sansthan, and Rainbow School have joined us.

Efforts are ongoing through this initiative to reach people living in urban, rural, and remote areas. The goal is to train boys and girls aged 18 and above in sports like Cricket, Athletics, Swimming, Football, as well as indoor games like Carrom, Chess, and E-sports, providing them with opportunities to participate in State, National, and International sports competitions just like mainstream athletes.

The number of such youth has now exceeded 25, and gradually more persons with disabilities are showing interest in sports. Our continuous efforts are directed toward encouraging the needy, the underprivileged, and persons with disabilities to adopt adaptive sports and become empowered, so they can easily find a path toward sustainable livelihoods.
